Context
Project Brief
Savr is a new startup that wants to make it easier for people to follow new recipes, and cook great meals at home. Recently, Savr has seen some negative reviews about recipes that involve many steps, or more advanced techniques. In this GV design sprint the focus is to help users accurately and easily follow directions while creating a better experience for users as well.
Design Sprint Process
Day 1 - Mapping
In the first day I mapped out a rough draft of the user flow and the step by step process to resolve the problem at hand. The user can select whatever entree they choose to replicate then once they have chose a dish the screen would next display the list of ingredients needed for that entree. On the same screen there would be a button to proceed to a page with more detailed and ordered steps along with a video to follow along with if the user is more of a visual learner.
The next part included building the ideal user for Savr. Nick is a 29 year old male from Los Angeles, California. Below are some habits Nick has and some goals he wants to achieve.

Day 2 - sketch
The next phase of the design sprint was sketching out the UI screens based off of the mapped out user flow I created on day. After, I did another sketch but this time I focused on the three most critical screens that I thought was considered key in the design process moving forward. These 3 critical screens are the preparation with ingredients, ordered steps screen, and the detailed steps screen with video assist.

Day 3 - Decide
After creating the final user flow then came down to deciding the details of the user interface. Here I selected fonts I'd be using to put together the typography and the color palette for the app to aid me in moving towards the final steps in this design process.
Outcome
Day 4 - Prototype
The idea behind the prototype sketches brought to life, using Figma, is to keep it simple. I didn’t want to stray away from the mission, however at the same time I had some ideas that would further improve this feature. One of those ideas was to a include a difficulty rating where it displays how easy or hard a certain meal is to create or follow. The next add on was a rating system that displays what other users rated that meal. The final add on was to include a more detailed nutrients per serving option (carbs, total fat, etc.) Other than these add-ons, the same concept and layout was carried over from the paper prototypes.

Day 5 - User Testing
I created a test plan for users to complete numerous tasks on my high fidelity prototype I created using Figma. I gathered the following insights: readable with a clear next step, easy to use, and added features. The added feature users appreciated was the chef’s tips that provided users with additional guidance while cooking.
I had 5 users completed 5 tasks. Of these 5 tasks there was a 100% completion rate with negative feedback at the end from users. Since this project was only a design sprint I only went through one round of testing if this were anything other than a sprint I’d do more testing to confirm my findings.

Takeaways
Overall, this was a great learning experience for in my first attempt in completing a design sprint. I’d love to participate in more sprints to improve my speed, knowledge, and quality of work when it comes to projects like this. Regarding the project, I believe I solved the problem the presented to Savr when it came to user not being able to follow steps easily and wanting more advanced techniques. However, there is always room for updates to make things better, for the time being the mission was accomplished.
